Bailey Einon is an ancient woodland located alongside the River Ithon, characterized by its wet alder and ash trees over a hazel understory. This nature reserve is notable for its rich biodiversity, including over forty breeding bird species such as pied flycatcher and redstart. The area is also home to lichens, mosses, and liverworts, supporting a diverse beetle community, while the stunning bluebell display in spring adds to its charm. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species, particularly in March when activity peaks around midday. Look out for red kites, Eurasian nuthatches, and treecreepers, all of which are best observed around noon. Spring also brings the arrival of the European pied flycatcher, while winter visitors like the woodcock can be spotted among the trees. The reserve's rich fauna makes it an exciting destination year-round.
