Babcary Meadows is a 13.6-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest located north of Babcary in Somerset. This reserve is one of the last remaining areas of traditionally managed unimproved neutral grassland in south Somerset, featuring a rich variety of herbaceous plants. The site, which lies alongside the River Cary, includes waterlogged areas with tussocks of soft rush and a diverse array of flora, making it a vital habitat for wildlife. During June, visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife, particularly the Willow Warbler, which is best observed at dusk around 20:00. The meadows also host a stunning display of wildflowers, including Green Winged orchids and Cowslips in late spring, while mid-summer brings a profusion of white Oxeye Daisies. The reserve is a haven for butterflies, with large numbers of Meadow Browns and Marbled Whites frequenting the area during the warmer months.
