Ashleworth Ham is a 104.73-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest located in the Severn Vale, north of Ashleworth in Gloucestershire. This nature reserve features a mosaic of habitats including fen, marsh, and neutral grassland, making it a vital area for wildlife. While public access is restricted to protect breeding birds, viewing screens and a hide along the roadside offer opportunities to observe the diverse birdlife without disturbance. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for a variety of species, particularly in July when activity peaks. Notable sightings include the Gatekeeper butterfly and Reed Bunting, both best observed around 01:00. Additionally, the reserve is home to birds like Kingfishers and Long-tailed Tits, with sightings of hybrid geese in March. The winter months also attract large numbers of migratory waterfowl, making it an exciting time for birdwatching, despite limited access.
