Asham Meads is a beautiful expanse of grassland located near Otmoor in Oxfordshire, featuring three damp meadows—Upper Marsh, Lower Marsh, and Rowbottom—alongside an oak plantation, a pond, hedges, and scrub. This area is rich in rare botanical communities, including maroon-flowered great burnet and tubular water-dropwort, and is characterized by its historical ridges and furrows, making it a designated site of ecological importance. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of butterflies, with the best time for sightings being in July, particularly around 1:00 PM, when species like the Meadow Brown and Gatekeeper are most active. Birdwatchers should listen for skylarks and curlews during the breeding season, while rare species such as the American Wigeon can be spotted in March. For a chance to see Cetti's Warbler and Green Woodpecker, November is the prime month, with peak observation times around noon and midnight, respectively.
