Arreton Down Nature Reserve is a stunning chalk grassland located in the Eastern Yar Valley, renowned for its rich biodiversity. The best time to visit Arreton Down is during spring and summer when the reserve is alive with butterflies, including the chalkhill blue and adonis blue. Birdwatchers can look for migrating species like wheatear and whinchat, particularly in spring. Notable sightings include common toads peaking in May, sparrowhawks in September, and various songbirds throughout the year, making it an ideal spot for wildlife enthusiasts to explore and identify species.
