Arnold Memorial is a coastal nature reserve located in Craster, Northumberland, set within an old quarry on the Whin Sill. This area features a well-surfaced pathway that connects Craster with Craster Tower and Howick Hall, offering stunning views of the coastline and Dunstanburgh Castle. The maturing woodland and diverse habitats make it a crucial stop for both migrant and breeding birds, including notable species like sedge and willow warblers, chiffchaff, and blackcap. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of birds throughout the year, with peak sightings of Eiders and Northern Fulmars in January, best observed around midnight. March is an excellent month for spotting Razorbills and Purple Sandpipers, particularly in the afternoon. Summer visitors include Atlantic Puffins and Arctic Terns, best seen at dawn, while July offers opportunities to spot Red-breasted Mergansers and Rock Pipits. The reserve is a vital resting point for winter migrants, making it an engaging destination for birdwatchers year-round.
