Argill Woods Nature Reserve is a serene, steep-sided wooded valley located in a secluded river landscape. This tranquil area features waterfalls and pools, creating an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife. The reserve is characterized by its diverse plant life, including wild garlic, bluebells, and a rich array of orchids, and is managed to promote woodland regeneration while maintaining its natural beauty. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing dippers and grey wagtails around the waterfalls and pools, particularly in spring and summer. The best time to visit for a chance to see rabbits is in June, with peak activity occurring around 1:00 AM. Additionally, keep an eye out for red squirrels and various bird species, including greater spotted woodpeckers and treecreepers, which thrive in the mature trees throughout the reserve.
