Amberley Wildbrooks Nature Reserve features a unique landscape of grazing marsh and ditches within a floodplain, making it a vital habitat for rare birds, insects, and plants. Located near Amberley Mount in the South Downs, the reserve offers stunning views across the River Arun, which meanders through extensive grasslands interspersed with wet woodlands of Willow and Alder. The area is free to visit and relies on support from its members for conservation efforts. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with peak sightings of the White-tailed Eagle occurring in March, particularly around 15:00. Other notable species include the Common Nightingale, which peaks in August at dawn, and Cetti's Warbler, best observed in February around 16:00. For those interested in winter visits, the Greater White-fronted Goose is most frequently seen in November around 14:00, while the Water Rail can be spotted year-round, especially in February at 16:00.
