Alpine Meadow is a 0.4 hectare nature reserve located near Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire, within the unspoilt Ashridge Woodlands. This Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) features chalk grassland that is rich in wildflowers and butterflies, making it a vibrant habitat from spring to autumn. Currently, fencing work is underway to facilitate grazing of the grassland, expected to be completed by the end of March. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of birds throughout the year, with notable sightings including Blue Tits peaking in November and Robins in January. The best times to visit for birdwatching are during the winter months, particularly at midnight for peak activity. As summer approaches, the warm grassland attracts numerous insects, and visitors may also spot Common Lizards basking near log piles at the top of the slope.
