Allt Crug Garn is a unique nature reserve located in Ceredigion, accessible via a minor road from Llanrhystud. The reserve features a mix of old plantation remnants and expansive heathland, underpinned by 80cm of peat. Its diverse habitats support a variety of species, although the site faces ecological pressures from invasive plants. Notable features include a rich lichen and bryophyte community, as well as interesting fungal associations, making it a site of ecological interest. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot Goldfinches, Robins, and Rabbits, particularly in April when activity peaks around 01:00. The presence of the Emperor moth adds to the reserve's charm, while the unique flora and fauna provide opportunities for observation throughout the year. Visitors should be mindful of the site's accessibility limitations and plan their visits accordingly to make the most of the wildlife sightings.
