Abercorris Nature Reserve is a picturesque area of broadleaf woodland nestled in a steep-sided valley, creating a vital wildlife corridor that contrasts with the surrounding coniferous plantations. The reserve features a diverse canopy of oak, ash, and hazel trees, alongside the River Deri, which enhances the habitat's richness and supports various species. This tranquil setting is ideal for exploring the lush greenery and vibrant ecosystem that thrives in the moist environment. Visitors can look forward to spotting a variety of bird species throughout the year, with notable sightings including Common Swifts in July and Blue Tits peaking in February. December is particularly rewarding for birdwatchers, as Bullfinches, Woodpigeons, and Ravens are most active during this month. For the best chances of seeing these species, early morning visits around midnight are recommended, while afternoon excursions in August may yield sightings of the Eurasian Nuthatch.
