Tummel Shingle Islands is a unique habitat located along the River Tummel, characterized by its shingle banks and diverse ecosystems. This reserve is a vital area for wildlife and is known for its natural beauty, although access to Ballinluig Tummel Island is currently restricted due to a significant landslide. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for Red Squirrels, particularly active in March, with sightings peaking around 01:00. May is an excellent month for observing Jackdaws and Mallards, also best seen at the same early hour. For those interested in raptors, the Eurasian Sparrowhawk can be spotted at dusk in September, while Whooper Swans are best viewed in February around 16:00.
