Talich is one of the largest remaining areas of alder wood in Easter Ross, featuring rich grassland flora around calcareous springs that support a variety of orchids. This diverse habitat attracts numerous bird species and a wide range of invertebrates, making it an important ecological site in the region. Visitors to Talich can look for a variety of bird species, with notable sightings including the Carrion/Hooded Crow hybrid peaking in February and Yellowhammers in March. August is the best month for overall wildlife activity, with Feral Cats and Curlews also frequently observed during this time. Early morning visits around 01:00 may yield the best chances for spotting these species.
