Southwick Coast features a stunning coastline characterized by wooded cliffs and extensive saltmarsh, providing a diverse habitat for various wildlife. Located near Mersehead and the Solway, this reserve includes a scenic viewpoint and a path that leads through the Needle’s Eye, a natural wave-cut arch, enhancing its natural charm. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species, particularly in November when Barnacle Geese and Wigeon are most active. February is also a prime time for observing Shoveler, Teal, and Northern Pintail. For those visiting in May, the Little Egret makes an appearance, while Tree Sparrows can be spotted in August. The best times for viewing are typically around midnight for nocturnal species and mid-afternoon for others.
