Seafar Wood is a developing strip of woodland located west of Cumbernauld Village, offering a mix of young trees, clusters of bluebells, and remnants of agricultural hedgerows. This habitat supports various bird species and provides a tranquil setting for nature enthusiasts. The woodland's young character makes it an interesting site for observing the evolution of flora and fauna over time. Wildlife highlights include grey squirrels, which are most active in October, particularly around 01:00. Birdwatchers can look for ravens peaking in April and magpies in February, both best observed around the same early hour. Additionally, visitors in May may spot the willow leaf beetle, while the arrival of summer brings the chance to see bullfinches. Overall, Seafar Wood offers a variety of species to observe throughout the year, with specific peak times enhancing the experience.
