Pease Dean is an ancient semi-natural woodland located near Pease Bay in the Scottish Borders. Managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the reserve features two distinct areas: Pease Burn, characterized by open grassland, and Tower Burn, which consists of mixed woodland. The lush habitat supports a variety of flora, including ferns, mosses, and a vibrant display of bluebells, primroses, and wood anemones during spring and summer. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a range of species, particularly in March when activity peaks. Notable sightings include the Northern Gannet and European Stonechat, both best observed around 16:00, along with the Great Cormorant and Common Murre. The diverse birdlife makes Pease Dean a rewarding destination for visitors, especially during the early evening hours.
