Loch of the Lowes, located near Dunkeld in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, is a prominent wildlife reserve managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. This designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation features diverse habitats around the loch, supporting a variety of wildlife, including breeding ospreys, red squirrels, otters, and beavers. Its popularity is enhanced by the osprey cam, which attracts many visitors eager to observe these magnificent birds. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see red squirrels and grey squirrels year-round, with peak activity in December. The loch is particularly vibrant in spring, when ospreys return in April, and various waterfowl, including goldeneyes and great crested grebes, can be spotted. For the best viewing times, visit around midnight for squirrels or around noon to catch ospreys in action.
