Linn Dean is a steep-sided glen featuring flower-rich grassland, located in a picturesque area that supports diverse habitats. This reserve is notable for its springtime skylark displays and the vibrant yellow common rock-rose, which attracts the northern brown argus butterfly. Additionally, unique mosses, liverworts, and juniper can be found throughout the glen, enhancing its ecological significance. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for various species throughout the year, with May being the best month for sightings. Notable species include buzzards, magpies, and siskins, all peaking in May, while roe deer and field grasshoppers are best observed in August. For those interested in raptors, merlins can be spotted at dusk in July, and red kites are best seen in January during the evening.
