Johnston Terrace Garden

Scottish Wildlife Trust

Johnston Terrace Garden is the Trust’s smallest reserve, nestled in the vibrant Old Town of Edinburgh, close to the iconic Edinburgh Castle. This urban oasis showcases how a neglected space can transform into a vital refuge for wildlife, inspiring visitors to enhance their own gardens for the benefit of local fauna. Throughout the year, visitors can spot a variety of wildlife, with notable species including Magpies, Woodpigeons, and Robins. December is the best month for birdwatching, particularly around 01:00 when activity peaks. Other species like the Harlequin Ladybird and Grey Squirrel are also present year-round, making this garden a delightful spot for nature enthusiasts at any time.
