The Isle of Eigg is a community-owned island renowned for its diverse habitats, including coastal land, farmland, native woodland, and raised bog. This stunning location features a variety of ecosystems that support an array of wildlife, making it a designated area of interest for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the Sgurr while exploring the island's rich flora and fauna, including wildflowers and arctic-alpines, as well as otters, seals, dolphins, and minke whales. For wildlife watchers, May is the prime month to visit, with peak activity around 01:00. Look out for the Green-veined White butterfly and Buzzards, both of which are frequently observed during this time. Other highlights include the Meadow Brown butterfly in July and various plant species like Ramsons and Medium-flowered Winter-cress, also peaking in May. Birdwatchers may spot over 200 species, including Shags in April, making Eigg a vibrant destination for nature lovers year-round.
