Hoselaw Loch and Din Moss is a nature reserve located near Kelso in the Scottish Borders, Scotland. This site features a shallow, nutrient-rich loch and Din Moss, one of the largest raised bogs in the region. Designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Protection Area (SPA), and Ramsar site, it is particularly important for overwintering wildfowl, including significant populations of pink-footed and greylag geese. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species, especially during the winter months when pink-footed geese are present. Notable sightings include greylag and Canada geese peaking in January, while mute swans are best observed in March. Spring brings a flurry of activity with swallows and yellowhammers peaking in May, making it an excellent time for birdwatching, particularly around 1:00 AM when many species are most active.
