Hadfast Valley
Scottish Wildlife Trust
Hadfast Valley features a diverse mix of scrub, grassland, and broadleaved woodland, creating an ideal habitat for various bird species. Located in a tranquil setting, this reserve is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and is particularly noted for its vibrant summer birdlife. Visitors can expect to see a range of species, especially during June when Whitethroats and Long-tailed Tits are most active, typically around 1:00 AM. Other notable sightings include Robins peaking in July and Rooks in April, best observed at dusk. The reserve's rich insect life, particularly around rosebay willowherb, attracts many migrating songbirds during the summer months.
