Glen Moss is a diverse nature reserve featuring marshland, woodland, and wet heath, complemented by open water and sheltered shallow pools. This habitat supports a rich variety of wildlife, including songbirds, waterfowl, amphibians, and a notable population of insects such as dragonflies and damselflies. The reserve is also home to rare plant species, including the coral root orchid, making it a significant ecological site. For wildlife enthusiasts, February is the prime month to visit Glen Moss, with peak sightings of Mute Swans, Mallards, and Grey Herons occurring around midnight. April offers opportunities to observe Coots and Magpies, while June is ideal for spotting Bullfinches. The diverse habitats provide year-round interest, but early morning visits around these peak times can yield the best experiences for birdwatchers.
