Feoch Meadows is a diverse habitat comprising dry and wet grassland, fen meadow, and mire, located in south west Scotland. The reserve features an orchid-rich area near Feoch Burn and benefits from traditional livestock farming, which promotes a rich variety of wildflowers. This makes it an essential site for butterflies and moths, contributing to its ecological significance. Visitors can expect to see a range of wildlife, particularly in April when species like the Sparrowhawk, Wood Anemone, and Redstart are most active. July is another peak month, showcasing butterflies and various insects, including acrossus rufipes and House Martins. Notably, early morning visits around 01:00 are recommended for the best chances of observing these species.
