Cathkin Marsh is a vibrant nature reserve located in Scotland, characterized by its diverse wetland habitats. This area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), making it an important location for both wildlife conservation and public enjoyment. Visitors can explore the main path, although hedge laying operations will take place during the week beginning 9th February 2026, which may require brief waiting periods for safety. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to spotting a variety of species throughout the year. February is particularly rewarding, with sightings of Moorhen, Mute Swan, and Little Grebe peaking during this month. The best times for viewing are around midnight for waterfowl and early afternoon for the Little Grebe. As spring approaches, keep an eye out for Reed Bunting and Kestrel in April, while June brings the emergence of Ringlet and Meadow Brown butterflies, best observed around 1:00 PM.
