Carstramon Wood is one of the largest semi-natural broadleaved woodlands in the region, featuring a diverse array of oak trees that once supported local industries. Today, this lush habitat is home to ferns, lichens, and stunning bluebells that bloom in spring, making it a picturesque spot for nature enthusiasts and walkers alike. Wildlife enthusiasts can look out for grey and red squirrels, with peak sightings for grey squirrels occurring in December and red squirrels in October. January is particularly fruitful for birdwatchers, as red kites, nuthatches, and reed buntings are frequently observed. Roe deer sightings peak in April, while the vibrant European pied flycatcher can be spotted in May, especially around 11:00 AM.
