Cambus Pools is a wetland reserve featuring reedbeds, grassland, and open water, located behind an industrial area on the Inner Forth estuary. This habitat is crucial for various wildlife, including reed buntings, and showcases the importance of small land areas for biodiversity. The reserve is a vital space for both resident and migratory species, making it a significant ecological site. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with peak sightings of teal and shelduck in February, particularly around midnight. Other highlights include bearded tits in June and western marsh harriers in April, both best observed around 11:00 AM and 1:00 AM, respectively. The reserve also supports year-round residents like grey herons and mute swans, providing ample opportunities for birdwatching across different seasons.
