Brock Wood, situated 3 miles south of Dunbar, is a diverse mixed woodland that is undergoing a transformation as non-native trees are removed to promote the growth of native species such as alder, ash, and oak. This habitat supports a variety of wildlife and offers a tranquil setting for nature enthusiasts. Visitors to Brock Wood can expect to see a range of bird species throughout the year, with September being the best month for sightings. Look out for Blue Tits and Chaffinches peaking in September, as well as Great Tits in February. Early morning visits around 01:00 are particularly rewarding for spotting these lively birds, along with other species like Robins and Tree Sparrows in their respective peak months.
