Barnyards Marsh is a small yet intriguing wetland reserve characterized by diverse vegetation, including reed canary grass, sedges, and mosses. The reserve's ecological significance is underscored by its designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). January is particularly rewarding, with peak sightings of moles, common snipe, and water rails, often best observed around midday. Other highlights include mute swans in June and great crested grebes in April, making each season a unique experience for visitors keen on birdwatching and exploring the rich biodiversity of the marsh.
