Balgavies Loch is a vital wildlife site, characterised by its inland loch, reedbeds, and willow carr. Located in Scotland, this reserve is particularly noted for its diverse birdlife and is a haven for red squirrels. The area has long been recognised by naturalists, making it an important ecological site for both flora and fauna. Visitors can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with notable sightings including red squirrels and wintering wildfowl such as goldeneye and wigeon, peaking in November. April is a great time to observe great crested grebes and wrens, while greylag geese and tufted ducks are best spotted in December. Early morning visits around midnight are particularly rewarding for wildlife enthusiasts.
