Wolves Wood, located near Hadleigh in Suffolk, is one of seven ancient woodlands that once dominated East Anglia. Characterised by its clay soils, the woodland retains moisture and features a diverse range of habitats. Managed using traditional coppicing methods, the area supports various stages of tree growth, making it a vital refuge for wildlife and a living testament to centuries of natural history. Visitors can look forward to spotting a variety of birds throughout the year, including Dunnocks and Blackcaps. Notable sightings include the Little Owl, best observed at dusk in January, and the Nightingale, peaking in May around 1:00 AM. August is particularly vibrant, with species like the Speckled Wood butterfly and Holly Blue emerging, making it an excellent time for wildlife enthusiasts to explore the reserve.
