Udale Bay is a tranquil intertidal bay located on the Black Isle, featuring a diverse range of coastal, estuary, mudflat, and wetland habitats. This nature reserve is an important site for wildlife, supporting thousands of waders, ducks, and geese. Conservation efforts include managing wet grassland fields with grazing cattle and volunteers, as well as controlling invasive species to protect the area's unique flora and fauna. Birdwatchers can enjoy a variety of species throughout the year, with peak sightings in February, particularly around 15:00. Look for Scaup, Horned Grebe, and Bar-tailed Godwit during this time. Additionally, Ospreys can be spotted fishing in the bay, especially in September at dusk. The reserve is also home to year-round residents like Pink-footed Geese and Northern Lapwings, making it a great destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
