Snettisham

RSPB

Snettisham reserve, located on the stunning Norfolk coast, offers breathtaking views across brackish lagoons, salt marsh, and extensive mudflats within the vast Wash. This area is renowned for its dramatic landscapes and is a key site for wildlife, making it a designated nature reserve. Visitors can expect to witness spectacular bird displays, particularly during the winter months when migratory species gather in large numbers. From late summer to early winter, Snettisham is a prime location for observing wading birds, with peak activity occurring around dusk. Notable species include Red Knot and European Turtle-Dove, both peaking in August, while up to 40,000 Pink-footed Geese can be seen at dawn during winter. For the best chance of witnessing the 'whirling wader spectacular', consult the Snettisham Spectacular Dates and Times guide, as these events are not guaranteed outside of specified times.
