Old Hall Marshes is a diverse nature reserve featuring mudflats, salt marsh, and pools, creating a vibrant habitat for wildlife year-round. Located in a scenic area, it encompasses extensive grazing marshes, brackish water fleets, reedbeds, and two offshore islands. This site is known for its rich biodiversity and is a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. Visitors can expect to see a variety of bird species, particularly in January when activity peaks. Look for breeding Avocets, Lapwings, and Redshanks, as well as wintering Pochards and Shovelers. Notable sightings include Wilson's Phalarope in September and various plovers in January, with the best viewing times often around mid-afternoon. The reserve is also home to resident Bearded Tits, making it a delightful destination for birdwatching throughout the year.
