Medmerry is a dynamic nature reserve located on the south coast near Chichester, transforming from a barren flood plain into a vibrant wetland. This RSPB reserve features 6.25 miles of trails, offering visitors stunning panoramic views and opportunities for long walks and bike rides. It is a successful example of a managed realignment scheme, benefiting both wildlife and people, and is in close proximity to Pagham Harbour reserve. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with January being the peak month for sightings. Notable species include the Whimbrel, which is best observed around 10:00, and the Grey Plover, peaking in March at 15:00. Spring brings the enchanting Avocet to the stilt pools, while winter offers thrilling views of birds of prey like the Peregrine and Merlin.
