Marwick Head is a stunning nature reserve located along the Orkney coastline, renowned for its vibrant seabird colony and dramatic cliffs. The reserve is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is home to the rare Great Yellow Bumblebee, alongside a variety of nesting seabirds and coastal flora. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a range of species, particularly in June when activity peaks for several birds, including Shoveler, Greylag Goose, and Black-tailed Godwit. Notable sightings include wading birds like Turnstones and Purple Sandpipers in winter, while the best times for observing various species are around noon and early morning. The diverse habitats make Marwick Head a must-visit for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
