Marshside is a vibrant coastal wetland reserve located north of Southport town centre, offering diverse habitats including saltmarsh, pools, and estuary areas. With three well-marked trails and excellent viewing facilities, it is recognised for its rich wildlife and year-round opportunities for observation, making it a delightful destination for nature enthusiasts. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy a variety of birdlife, with notable sightings including nesting Avocets and Lapwings in summer. Autumn brings flocks of Pink-footed Geese, while winter showcases impressive gatherings of Wigeons and Golden Plovers. For peak wildlife activity, October is the standout month, particularly around 01:00, when species like Greylag Geese and Black-tailed Godwits are most frequently observed.
