Marazion Marsh, located near Penzance in Cornwall, is a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) reserve and the largest reedbed in the region. Nestled in a shallow river valley and separated from the coast by a shingle bar and sand dunes, this diverse habitat supports over 250 bird species, 500 plant species, 500 insect species, and 18 mammal species, making it a vital ecological site. Visitors to Marazion Marsh can expect to see a variety of wildlife, particularly during peak months like September when species such as the Rock Pipit, Sanderling, and Common Hoopoe are most active, especially at dusk around 18:00. The reserve is also an important wintering site for Bitterns and a stopover for the threatened Aquatic Warbler, while stunning murmurations of starlings can be witnessed from October to December, drawing in aerial predators like Buzzards and Sparrowhawks.
