Lodmoor is a tranquil saltmarsh reserve located in Weymouth, Dorset, designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and an RSPB reserve. This diverse habitat features a mix of reedbeds, open water, saltmarsh, and wet grassland, making it a vital refuge for various wildlife. Visitors can explore the area while enjoying the rich birdlife, including Bearded Tits and Cetti's Warblers, alongside ducks, terns, and waders. For birdwatching enthusiasts, winter is an ideal time to visit Lodmoor, particularly in January when species like Northern Lapwings, Mediterranean Gulls, and Moorhens are most active. Look for peak activity around midnight for the best sightings. Additionally, April offers opportunities to hear the distinctive calls of Cetti's Warblers, while dusk in June may reveal Great Egrets. The viewing screen provides excellent vantage points for observing the vibrant wildlife.
