Lochwinnoch is a serene wetland nature reserve located just 30 minutes from Glasgow, offering a peaceful retreat to enjoy diverse wildlife. As one of the few remaining wetlands in west Scotland, it is dedicated to restoring its natural hydrological systems and creating new wetland areas, making it a vital habitat for various species. The reserve is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), highlighting its ecological importance. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of birds throughout the year, with peak sightings in January for species like Mute Swans, Moorhens, and Wigeons. Spring brings the captivating displays of Great Crested Grebes, while the woodland is vibrant with life year-round. For the best experience, visit around midnight when many species are most active, or explore during the day to catch the diverse array of ducks and other wildlife.
