Loch Gruinart is a stunning nature reserve located on the northern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Owned by the RSPB, this designated nature reserve features a diverse range of habitats, including moorland and ancient Atlantic woodland, all set against breathtaking sea views. The land is actively managed as a working farm, which supports both agricultural production and wildlife conservation, making it an important site for Hebridean birds and other wildlife. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species, particularly during February when activity peaks. Look out for Northern Pintails, Greater White-fronted Geese, and Barnacle Geese, with sightings best around 14:00. Other notable species include Hen Harriers in January and a range of waders and waterfowl. The reserve's diverse flora, including sundews and orchids, adds to the rich biodiversity, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers year-round.
