Langstone Harbour is a 2,085.4-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest located in Hampshire. This diverse wetland reserve features tidal mudflats, saltmarsh, seagrass meadows, and shingle, creating an ideal habitat for various waterbirds. It is part of the Ramsar site of Langstone and Chichester Harbour Special Protection Area and includes areas designated as Special Areas of Conservation and Local Nature Reserves. Visitors can enjoy the wildlife from coastal paths, while some parts remain wildlife-only for the protection of breeding seabirds and other species. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of birds, particularly in January when species such as Sabine's Gull, Common Greenshank, and Brant are most active, with peak observation times around 13:00. April also offers exciting sightings, including Western Cattle-Egret and Red-breasted Merganser at dusk. Keep an eye out for terns fishing in the lagoons and the occasional Osprey soaring overhead, making Langstone Harbour a vibrant destination for birdwatching throughout the year.
