Lake Vyrnwy is a stunning man-made reservoir nestled in the Berwyn Mountains, surrounded by diverse habitats including moorland, woodland, and meadows. This picturesque site not only supplies fresh water to Liverpool but also serves as a vital nature reserve, managed in partnership with Hafren Dyfrdwy. The estate encompasses nearly 5000 hectares, promoting a thriving ecosystem that supports a wide variety of wildlife. Visitors can look forward to spotting species such as Common Chaffinch and Willow Tit, particularly in April and May respectively, when activity peaks around 1:00 PM and 11:00 AM. June is another excellent month for birdwatching, with sightings of Eurasian Siskin and Great Spotted Woodpecker peaking around noon and 1:00 PM. The reserve is also home to a range of other wildlife, making it a delightful destination for nature enthusiasts year-round.
