Hobbister is a stunning nature reserve that combines moorland, sea cliffs, and saltmarsh, offering sweeping views across Waulkmill Bay. This area is managed with wildlife in mind, providing ideal habitats for breeding Hen Harriers, Curlews, and Short-eared Owls. The diverse landscape supports a rich variety of flora and fauna, making it a key site for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike. Visitors can expect to see a range of bird species, particularly in June when activity peaks. Look out for Red Grouse and Stonechat during the evenings, and keep an ear out for the calls of Red-throated Divers and Twites. Notable sightings include Short-eared Owls around 2 PM and Great Skuas around 1 AM. The reserve is a vibrant spot for birdwatching, especially during the summer months when the wildlife is most active.
