Forsinard Flows is a stunning nature reserve located in the far north of Scotland, featuring a diverse landscape of blanket bog, sheltered straths, and rugged mountains. Spanning over 21,000 hectares, this RSPB reserve is part of the Flow Country, a vital area known for its unique habitats and significant carbon storage capabilities. The reserve is a haven for various wildlife, including lizards and soaring Hen Harriers, making it an essential site for conservation. Best visited in spring and summer, Forsinard Flows offers opportunities to observe species such as Golden Plover, Dunlin, and Hen Harrier along its trails. Noteworthy sightings peak in June, particularly around 14:00, when Tree Pipits and Twite are most active. While rarer species like Red-throated Divers may be elusive, the reserve's rich biodiversity, including insect-eating plants like Sundew, makes it a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts.
