Dee Estuary - Parkgate

RSPB

Dee Estuary - Parkgate is a stunning saltmarsh located beside a former seaside promenade, offering a unique blend of breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. This area has been reclaimed by nature and is designated as a vital habitat for various bird species, including nesting Skylarks and Redshanks, as well as thousands of wildfowl during the winter months. For the best wildlife viewing, visit during high tide, particularly in January when activity peaks around 16:00. Look out for Western Marsh Harriers, Hen Harriers, and Great Egrets, all of which are frequently observed during this time. Additionally, March is a great month for spotting Pink-footed Geese, while August offers opportunities to see Pectoral Sandpipers.
