The Coll nature reserve, located on the Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides, features a diverse mix of habitats including farmland, wetlands, sandy beaches, dunes, and moorland. This remote reserve is celebrated for its stunning shell-white shores and rugged beauty, making it one of the best walking destinations in Argyll and Bute. Notably, it supports a variety of wildlife and has been designated as a key area for conservation efforts, particularly for the Corncrake population. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing Corncrakes, especially during their peak in June, with the best viewing times around 1:00 AM. Spring is an excellent time to spot wading birds and Skylarks, while autumn brings passage birds. Visitors may also encounter Graylag Geese and various pollinators, such as the Western Honey Bee, during April. The reserve's rich biodiversity makes it a captivating destination throughout the year, with unique species like the Belted Beauty Moth and Short-necked Oil Beetle thriving in its carefully managed habitats.
