Capel Fleet, located on the Isle of Sheppey, features a mix of vital wetland habitats, including reedbeds and marshland, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching. This small vantage point, maintained by the RSPB, offers sweeping views of the surrounding farmland and is particularly known for its bird of prey sightings, drawing nature enthusiasts to its free car park and raised viewing area. Birdwatchers can expect to see a variety of raptors, with notable species including Peregrines in summer and Merlins and Marsh Harriers during autumn and winter. December is the best month for sightings, particularly around 15:00, when Little Owls and Northern Lapwings are also active at dusk. Other highlights include Red-legged Partridges peaking in November and Greater White-fronted Geese in February, best observed at dawn.
