Boyton and Hollesley Marshes are two vibrant coastal reserves located in the lower reaches of the Alde-Ore Estuary. These areas feature rich grazing marshes and a blend of wetland, grassland, and coastal habitats, making them ideal for observing a diverse range of wildlife. The reserves are particularly noted for their birdlife, including significant populations of breeding waders such as Avocets and Lapwings, and are designated as important sites for nature conservation. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with notable sightings including Greater White-fronted Geese peaking in May and Bearded Tits in February. April is the best overall month for birdwatching, with activity peaking around 14:00. Early morning visits are recommended for Little Stints and Northern Pintails, while dusk is the prime time for spotting Eurasian Spoonbills and Merlins.
