Black Devon Wetlands is a tranquil nature reserve featuring a mosaic of wet grassland, reedbeds, and various pools, including freshwater and brackish habitats. Located within the RSPB’s Inner Forth conservation project, it serves as a sanctuary for wintering wading birds and wildfowl, while also supporting diverse species such as frogs, newts, and dragonflies. Visitors can enjoy the nature trail leading to a viewing mound that offers sweeping views of this serene landscape. Wildlife enthusiasts should visit in May, when activity peaks for several species, including Water Rail and Gadwall, with the best observation times around 10:00 and 11:00 respectively. Dusk is particularly rewarding for spotting Reed Buntings, Little Ringed Plovers, and Eurasian Coots. Other notable sightings include Little Egrets in March and Common Grasshopper Warblers in April, making this reserve a vibrant destination for birdwatching throughout the year.
